Oil in plenum..
13. Feb 2011 at 19:18

Hi All,

Treated my mig to new spark plugs today as she's been missing quite badly at low revs. Seems OK at higher revs tho..

Anyway, when I removed the plenum the inside of the chamber seemed quite oily.  The breathers were clear, but there was a fair bit of mayo in the large twin pipe.

Dosn't seem right to me  Undecided Anyone know the cause?

Thanks Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up!

I dont know why you removed the plenum to change the plugs, but it is quite normal to have an oily residue on the inside of the plenum. By 'large twin pipe' do you mean the one from the breather box to the plenum? if so it is normal for that to get blocked over time especialy if used for short runs.

Might have an airleak somewhere causing the missing, so took it off so I could clean it up, check the breathers and put it back abit more carefully than I did last time  Roll Eyes.  Also changed the HBV Thumbs Up!

Yes the large breather pipe that splits in two Thumbs Up!

Oil is from the breather system, that's how it works. The Mayo is a sign they could be blocked, obviously give the breathers a clean out wit carb cleaner and give tem a blow through to double check they are clear, this checks the breather box on crank case is clear also.
