I think you may have been right in one of your previous replies Tunnie
Like I said before, due to the old cam cover gasket leaking the plug wells were filled up with Oil.

I said that the amount of Oil that I was unable to soak up with old kitchen towel was not enough to soak the ends of the plugs as badly as what they were.

I think I was wrong 

I say this because before I put the new Bosch plugs in, I put the old one's back in and then removed them again to see if the bottoms were soaked in Oil.........they were'nt!!!!!
There was only a faint layer of oil on them which I'm pretty sure came off the thread of the plug wells which I could'nt clean.

So new plugs have now been inserted and car taken for a spin and I'm over the moon to report that my new cam cover gasket is not leaking.

Thanks to your excellent step by step guide I have auctualy done a really good job 
The most elaborate mechanical work I had ever done previously was an oil and filter change so I'm feeling pretty Smug 

Just to finish off I'd like to say that the reason why It's sometimes's taken me ages to reply to your posts Tunnie is because my Laptop is broke so I have had to keep popping up to my local library to use their computers.

Worth it though 

Glad to hear it went well, cam cover on 4 pots is a very satisfying little job 

Your on the road now, once you've done something like that you'll have the confidence to attack other jobs
