Oh....and when you replace that sensor, dont try and saeve a few quid with a pattern / aftermarket one. Get Genuine from Vauxhall.  Thumbs Up!

I reckon that when the crank sensor on the V6 is on it's way out you get similar symptoms.

Once I change mine after Easter I should be able to confirm this.

Before you go buying a new cam sensor, just try unplugging it and cleaning the contacts with a bit of contact cleaning spray.  You have the same symptoms and codes I had and simply disconnecting the cam sensor and reconnecting it cleared the problem.  I was getting a P0340 every other day or so but I haven't had one for nearly two weeks now.

ok had cam sensor changed (plug was also broken  Cry)

it hasnt faultered yet  Thumbs Up! but now that they put firmware version 10 on ecu and gearbox yesterday , the gearbox is "lumpy" as hell from cold , was so smooth before - except for the orignal fault . does anyone think this could be this new firmwares fault ??

some gearbox programs run in 'keep it in low gear mode' for a minute or 2 to heat the atf faster, could it be that you are experiencing?

the upgrade is normally a massive improvement.

The car may also take a day or 2 to learn new values depending on what else they have done.
