first thing to check is the ATF level is good. Engine running, flat surface, the fluid should be level with the fill plug  Thumbs Up!

Do you break V6's as often as TheBoy? Then you need tunnie's towing services, recovery costs are just the humiliation of being towed by 2/3's of an engine

thats now done , level was fine

seems to do it between 3rd and 4th and before it drops out of gear it seems to stay in 3rd to long , goes past revs of were it normally changes for 3 - 4 seconds , then drops out of gear before about 2 seconds later changing into 4th and then it will behave itself for rest of day

Are you able to get any codes from it.

Being a 2.2 you'll need a code reader, as the pedal and paperclip trick won't work.

Where abouts are you ?

As some has previously said, first thing to check would be the fluid level as this can cause problems.
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152783586

If that is at the correct level (and colour  Roll Eyes) then you could go on to check to see if there are any codes stored.

I'm only 25mls away from you and could bring my basic code reader over, to see what and if anything is being shown?.
PM me if you're interested

However, it may well need to get someone with more sophisticated code reading equipment to help out.  Ideally someone with a proper Tech2 as that's the daddy of them all  Roll Eyes

ok ive had the codes read today

...

...
error codes found were -

p0340 - cam sensor
p1700 - service request via can
gearbox codes were -

p1792 - can recieves error
p0727 - can recieves error
p0730 - unknown code
they advised me to get firmware updated and i must say its altered the car so much , drives so much better , feels like a different car . only problem is gearbox is still playing up

this time it came up with car/spanner light and went into limp mod , error now is (if i remember correctly) gearbox over rev error - 900rmp to great ( i think its p0730)

i think this is just were 3rd gear is not changing and so is reving to much in that gear instead of changing gear but i really dont know

the garage tried to sell me a recon gearbox for almost £1200 lol , well that isnt going to happen

being a 2.2 once you replace that cam sensor.

the gearbox will likely behave and the other codes will dissapear like magic  Thumbs Up!

the cam sensor on a 2.2 causes all sorts of grief, and brings on other non existant faults.  Change it and you will be sorted  Thumbs Up!

athers ... I don't know owt about the 4 pots .....  but the 0340 - cam sensor ... says to me that the speed signal to the ECUs may not be right at all times.

If the Engine ECU and the gearbox ECU are getting differing speed information this could well be the cause of the problem ???

My thoughts would be to sort the cam sesnor out and then see what difference you get. Cam sensor needs fixing anyway .....  Sad

EDIT .... must type faster .. jimbob's beaten me ... again .. Sad

Yep, agreed.  Thumbs Up!

I've seen all of these codes present, and autobox misbehaving. Cam sensor fixed the lot.
