Dilemma
24. Mar 2011 at 12:04

Just had the Miggy to the Garage re code P0743 Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid Circuit. Its either the solonoid or the converter. Now the dilemma is the Solonoid is £250 and there is the chance that it will not clear the problem as it could be the converter itself which will be £600 as the gearbox comes out. So the Dilemma is do I get rid of my beloved miggy just now, do I pay £250 and keep my fingers crossed. Definently cannor afford £600 as I just spent over £500 for a new head in January.

I can't speak for the solenoid, but the converter is a doddle to swap, and you will find a breaker on here who has one.

Would a garage not charge me a few Hundered pound to change gearbox plus the price I would have to pay for a 2nd hand one?

Looks like the Converter Solenoid Valve is located in the valve block in the front sump, also budget for a fliter and fluid change while your there

The Converter Solenoid, 96014183 isn't available from Vauxhall Stock in the UK but is available on a Non Stock order from Opel which takes 7-10 working days

Trade price for the Solenoid is £73.94 + VAT

Cheers
Andy
