The boxes on the Omega are generally a lot easier to sort out because they are rear wheel drive and so dont have drive shafts comin out of them...probably a 2 man job though as the box itself is quite heavy to lift back into place...not got experience of a 2.2 but I would agree it should be pretty easy to do yourself...

The gearbox has to be removed, but then the TC is simply lifted out & replaced. as said, best to do a fluid change while you are at it. A second hand gearbox is a good option too, but will still take the same amount of time, plus transport costs.
