Senators rule! I had a 2.5, then 3.0 24v and 3.0 12v. Go for it!

P.S. Automatic better than manual, same as MIG!

Not just me. Just about everyone I know who had a 24v Senator before an Omega says the Senny was the better car. Wink

It was a fine car in its day. Back in the 1980s. The Granada sucked, and beemers were still a nice car, but not available for junior managers.

But the Omega is newer, more refined, better handling and quicker (despite having to have cats). Deep down, you know the Omega is far superior.

That said, I always fancied a 24v example, when they were still current.

The Senator had cats, although iirc there would be nothing to prevent removing them. Wink.......I believe a Senny is quicker than a 3.0 Omega. Mine handled at least as well as both my omegas imo.
and the omega is hardly a big step forward as it uses pretty much the same running gear apart from the inferior v6 engine, and is imo much more a case of a car built down to a price.
Ive always thought of the Omega as a replacement for the Carlton rather than the Senator. Wink

And - your wrong. Grin

Totally with you there, the 2.5 wasn't that good, but the 3.0 24v was astonishing, IIRC I got sixty in first in my 24v auto, and the handling was very very good.

More obvious in Europe where the Omega B replaced the Omega A ie our Carlton  Wink Wink Wink
The Senator was just quietly dropped ............ and they didn't go out of their way to advertise it when it was in production.

We've already proven in a straight line that a V6 not quite runnong to perfection is quicker across the range than a 24v S6 running fine, both with similar mileage on clock.

Handling is always subjective, but even on Sports setting, the Senators are like driving Elites Grin

Omega isn't a big step forward, its a further refinement of the V chassis, ironing out more problems, and getting more from the setup.  The massive improvements were a better, lighter engine (with better positioning), and far more reliable electrics/electronics around the car.

Well, theres drivers and theres drivers. The driver shouldnt be the owner of the car. He will be much too mechanically sympathetic. Smiley
Never had a problem with Senator electronics, and never met anyone who has. It was infinitely a more reliable car than an Omega. Change the oil and filters once a year and that was it. Wink
Omega - a fine replacement for the Carlton, but not in the same class as the Senny.
