Hi, been fiddling around all day with this heating issue, i've just about tried everything in the engine bay.

Heating is just not getting hot, I know its not the matrix blocked, I have just replaced the control valve,

There is a vacuum pipe that goes through the bulk head, right by the matrix pipes, Does anyone know where this goes to or is connected to??

I occasionally get some heating but it soon vanishes, Is this the fault or is there something else I should be giving more attention to??

I know its almost summer and won't be needing it, but want it working for next Winter Cheesy

'Tother way round I'm afraid ... no vacuum = heat .. vacuum is used to turn it OFF .... can be proved by removing vac pipe from top of HBV (block vac pipe with a small screw to prevent a vac leak) a serviceable system will then run hot.

Mine is running like that at the moment as I haven't had the time to replace the vac valve behind the glovebox that is stuck giving full vac at all times ... so running very cold !!! (if connected)

If the vac pipe that should be going to the HBV is disconnected but not plugged there may be some confusing consequences. AFAIK all the flaps that direct the air through/not-through the matrix, and to the various vents, are controlled by manifold vacuum in conjunction with solenoid valves. If this vacuum is 'spoilt' by a hose being open-ended, who knows what the default flap positions might do? Undecided

My problem was the thermostat was stuck open. What is the water temp on the dash? with mine it took ages to move and only got to 80 deg when standing. As soon as you got on the open road it dropped, not registering. A quick visit to Elite Pete & 1 thermostat change later = nice & toasty heating.
