Omega estate rear wiper arm and blade
28. Mar 2011 at 19:06

Hi All
Does anyone know if any othe vehicle rear wiper arm and blade will fit my omega estate.
My original arm is very rusty now and I like the look of the Astra/ Signum rear arm assembly but I tried one from a Signum and it is too big for the omega spline.
Cheers

HAve you tried a vectra one (or would it be same size)?

What about the Astra?

I use one from the Ford Focus - got it off ebay from a wiper store.

Alternatively, get a new arm and blade from Vx

None of the wiper springs are really strong enough and I haven't found a blade that can properly cope with the curve of the rear screen.

why not just use an Omega estate wiper?  Huh Huh Huh The whole arm, blade & spindle cover was around £30 for an Astra G hatch.

Prefer the look of the thicker enclosed arms, would like a change from the skinny steel omega arm.

For the blade you MUST use the original GM part which is readily curved to fit the window properly  Thumbs Up! None of the aftermarket ones has this shape, so it's original only.

vectra arm is about an inch shorter.
has the same spline fitting .

interesting about the blade shape.
explains why my back window doesn't wipe properly.

I don't agree - the GM one does not clean it properly -the top of the blade lifts off the screen because of the curve of the glass.
Stand beside your vehicle and watch it lift off the glass as it wipes.

As I said in my original post - I've not come across any wiper arm/blade that will sweep 100% in contact with the glass.

I've gone for a different look knowing it wont work - but I might try the Astra 'G' next!

Both of our estates clean perfectly - New GM arms and New GM Blades.

The time they dont, is if the screens get too dirty, but kept clean (using just the wiper) then they work fine in our experience.

As they get old, then they start missing bits.

That's exactly my point! Are you sure you got the right blade for rear screen for Omega? It is a special blade and if you even look at it when you open the box you'll see it's almost like a boomerang, curved well enough to clean the whole area.

I've had now two estates and both have had the problem not sweeping the whole area when I have got them but both times the cure has been to use the genuine GM blade. And, as I said, it really is curved as new.
