I know we have gone down the daily insurance route for temp cover, but need a bit of help on the same subject.

My GF's Rover 25 is in for repair and for unseen reasons is going to take longer than expected.

So?

With the chance of a second car she is looking into tempory cover fo say a whole month.

So after any links or advice of prefered companies if possible.

Will have to be covered for business use as well.

Mar 2011 at 13:05 I would recommend Phil that your GF's existing insurance company is approached first to extend cover on a temporary vehicle. I would think the existing car being in the garage for so long means that insurance for that is not required; the garages own insurance should cover it (??), and it could just cover the temp. car.

This is where it gets crazy.

She only has 1yr NCD and is 6 months through her current insurance year.

She has an 03 Rover 25 but the clutch went and then something else and should have been sorted in less than a week - but thats another story.

She has the chance to use/buy an X reg Rover 25, so we rand her insurance to change it over but they wont insure anything under the value of £500, so we then looked at something they suggested by adding it to the current policy but they never got back to us.

So last night we go on go-compare.

£446 iss the cheapest quote - Fully comp and business use etc.

Tried it 3rd party went to 486
Then put it down as Social use only it went to 487

All the above quotes were owning 2 cars etc.

So changed it to 1 car only and the price went up to 545

Explain how insurance works to me now (If you can)

tbh, those daycover prices are better than i was getting when i tried to use them.

whenever i go and try a car out i just ring up my current company and they add the car for a day for £20 including admin fee.
Seems reasonable for a get me home solution should i buy it.
As for 1 months cover, could you not have just told them the car was worth more than £500??? lol

TBH we were not aware of a minimum value before the 1st call, and once the lady on the phone was aware of the value she said it would be awkward to change it.

Sweet talking person that I am got her to have a chat with her manager after I explained the car was a minter and the seller was strapped for cash and they originally wany £650 for the car. Roll Eyes
