EGR has a major impact on diesels as when its stuck open it means the exhaust pressure is lower resulting ina  turbo that wont spin up.

Having said that, its pretty essential on modern diesels as it makes them warm up SO much faster.

Hi Daz,

Yes, gives it a bit more power, also make sure the intercooler is clean and turbo hoses are all ok, have a habit of de-laminating on the inside. Other than that theres not much else to help them go any better lol

Cheers,
Iain

Struggling to see how a decat alone can give any more real power as the ECU is controlling the fuel in and the boost pressure is limited......I am sure it would help with other mods though.

Wink Not in the early 300tdi`s: the pump output can be 'tweaked' and the waste-gate arm 'adjusted'......How-to`s on most of the Landy forums. Thumbs Up!

....is the 'Cat' on a tdi not just a particulate filter and as such; prone to eventual partial/total obstruction? Undecided

I am sure it can be tweaked but, removing a cat is not putting more fuel in and hence power will NOT increase  Thumbs Up!

Similarly for a larger intercooler, that will in theory get denser air in but....with out fuel its a fools errand

Exactly, it describes getting air in and then specificaly mentions how to add the fuel to get the performance.

Ergo, decat and larger intercooler does jack on its own.

Simples!
