HBV ????????????
09. Apr 2011 at 12:37

A few months ago I fitted a new genuine Vx HBV to my 3.0 and tested it all ok.

I went to use my heater yesterday - no heat!

Checked the vacuum connection and that there is vacuum there - all ok.

Any ideas?

Hopefully its not a faulty HBV as this one has only done about 400 miles. I probably can't find the receipt and how long are Vx parts guaranteed for anyway?

Thanks - Rob

When heat is demanded via the dash controls, there should be no vacuum to the HBV.  If there is, this suggests a faulty solenoid valve behind the glovebox, I seem to recall.

Ok, thanks - so if I disconnect the vacuum pipe from the HBV then I should get heat?

If so then that's an easy enough thing to do

I've just thought, if I've disconnected the battery will I need to do any form of reset on the climate control as I'm guessin that it will tell the solenoid what to do?

Thanks

To reset Climate .. auto + Off together for about 20 secs with ignition ON but engine not running ... you should hear all the solenoids and relays and motors cycle, once they've stopped release the buttons.

Might work .. but if not ... vac pipe off the HBV then block it with a suitable bolt/screw to avoid having a vac leak...  leave HBV open to atmosphere.... no vac at HBV = heat .. Smiley

Thanks guys ............

I'll try that when I get a few mins spare - probably next week now.

I connected up a mate's Opcom and got some nasty readings from my Climate system as its now showing --         -- when I switch off. Opcom says that 2 of the actuators aren't working  Sad
They look a pain to get to also.

I changed the bulbs last week so am not sure if its done for a while - and I just haven't been able to see it! I'm hoping that it might be a mult-connector not mating properly.

Just glad I dont need the heating @ the moment  Roll Eyes

In my experience the connectors on the back of the climate unit need to be pushed in very firmly, try reconnecting each one and then do the servo reset, as mentioned above...

Will do. I've just tried a servo reset  - the panel just goes totally blank & stays that way  Cry

I try the connectors and I've got a spare climate panel - fingers crossed.

It will have to wait as have hings to do today - thanks all ....
