The key isuses I found with the A4's were:

No headroom
Small interior
Poor Boot space (the estate is particulalrly small for an estate)
Horrible under steer when pushed on the 2WD units (big heavy lump to far forward) gives pretty naff handling - 4WD is much better!

The engines seem pretty solid

They do eat front suspension bushes (they make Omegas look cheap to sort on this front!)

That will depend if you are long in the body or long in the leg.....it also depends if you have the seat tilted back a daft amount.

A6 are nice cars just beware of the suspension problems (could cost more than a used car to sort out an it doesn't last more tham 50 thousand miles usually).
Also belts were a nightmare to change as I remember

Good move on the MV6

Audi A4, in Vx terms, is Astra sized, just with a boot. A6 is more Vectra sized.


As DTM said, the double wishbone front suspension is awful, both durability, and ability to cope with UK roads. We normally have an annual session of changing the front suspension components on the 2 Audis in the family for MOT.

Again, as DTM said, the engines are quite good. Rubust, powerful (though many sold detuned), economical.  Most faults are around turbo vac pipes, easily resolved.


Its the A4 that have engines longitudially, even for FWD only, pushing weight forward.  A6 has conventional transverse layout for FWD
