the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

Tell me about it. My wages have been cut by 50% after loosing my job in 2009. I have just gone full time again 6 months ago and its not good when everything keeps going up. I was lucky that I have no depts so I only have to pay for what i need. But its still very tight each month. Cry

No difference over here in Ireland .
My renewal premium for the Omega was due and duly paid yesterday.
Upon initial offer it had risen 19.7% .
I've been with the company , Zurich ,for 7 years and the only time I speak with them is to pay the ransom each year . I've never claimed a cent in that time and provided them with proof positive of a further twelve years of claims free driving when I took out my first policy with them.
I called them and asked politly why they are demanding a rise of almost 20% . I got the standard reply " bad winter ,many expensive claims etc " so I hit her with the question why has my premium for my van which is also with Zurich through a broker went down by 7% and why after the equally bad '09-'10 winter did it not rise by a similar exorbitant sum?
That caught her out and she stumbled and couldn't give me a believable answer .
I then said that as a matter of principle I would be using the time until my renewal to secure alternative insurance with another company even if the premium matches or exceeds theirs. I'd also be moving my house insurance , wifes car and my van upon their renewal as I will not support a company that thinks I will unhesitatingly pay a grossly indecent premium rise when as a policy holder who must be considered a very good risk ,I should be rewarded .
I thanked her and before she could say anything, ended the call.
I had a call back within 10 mins from them with a premium renewal offer that is the same as last year ! No rise.
A disgraceful way to conduct business and if there was an Ombudsman in Ireland  I'd be drafting a letter to him .
Since that fiasco my wifes car insurance offer also went up by a similar %. I'll be speaking with them again on Tuesday next.
And to round off the prospect of a wonderful Easter weekend  my road tax renewal is due at the end of the month , a whopping € 614 (£541 ) .
At just over 2 thousand miles a year on the Omega it just doesn't make financial sense and is making me seriously consider a >30 year old car as a daily as over here in Ireland the road tax for such a vehicle is €48 per annum ands insurance is marginally less too.
I watched with great interest over the last two weeks as petrol hovered at €1.48 to €1.49.9a litre .It was as if the psychological  barrier of €1.50 was holding the almost daily rise at bay , well it finally broke through and now it's crept up to €1.54 in 5 days .
I wonder how long these fuel rises can be absorbed before our daily lives are irrevocably changed ?
The Omega may make way for a pristine E28 BMW ( albeit probably fitted with a lawnmower engine for economy ) yet .....

Sorry all , rant is over . Have a happy Easter  Thumbs Up!

My insurance went down this year. Not sure if hitting a milestone age helped?

Both Omegas and the Rover come in at £600-ish. The MV6 is the cheapest, £170 odd, Elite is the most expensive, over £250 iirc.
