Drivers Seat Removal
22. Apr 2011 at 22:08

Hi Guys

I need to remove my Drivers seat. Long story but I need to try and get the door card off with the door shut to gain access to the door lock.

Anyway I thought this maybe easier with the seat out. I have been reading the workshop manual and apart from the fact it is discribing a pre-facelift and my omega is a Facelift.

It has worried me with multipule warnings about Airbags going off and Seat belt tensioners triggering.

Can someone advise me how to take the seat out without World War 3 going off Shocked, Please. Thumbs Up!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Gary

As long as you`ve got the radio code, disconnect the battery, wait about 10 minutes, then away you go. You`ll probably have to destroy the card

Correct, unless you have the ability to reset an air bag light.  Wink

Actually... The air bag system is only powered with the ignition key in the run position so it is enough to switch off the ignition and leave a few minutes for the air bag system to shut down.

Most people would advise disconnecting the battery as an additional safety measure against the bags deploying but, unless the ignition is turned on with something disconnected, the air bag ECU will be happy if the battery has to be re-connected.

You could probably remove the fuse that powers the air bag system if you needed to switch the ignition on. Haven't got a wiring diagram handy to see where it's powered from at the moment, though.
