As soon as I get the log book back, it'll be up for sale. Can't get a boxster, they've got a stigma attached to them  Grin

Well they're a better drive than a 996 cab and a 987 is a much newer car.

Stigma would just be 'poor mans 13 year old 911' rather than just 'poor mans 911'.   Neither are of course a poor mans car so I don't see why you should be bothered.

I had a 911 SC Targa in gunmetal colour in the 1980s for a short time - didn't like it overall but impressive noise. Front end used to lift which I did not like - not great for someone 6ft 6". Big bills but it was a company car!!

My brother has his 928 inspected by a specialist before he bought it and there was quite a lot needing attention, got plenty off the asking price but all Porsches cost a lot to run, I still remember his face when the gearbox went and he was told it would cost £2500 for a rebuild Shocked

Go for it Del but def get it inspected for by someone who knows them inside out Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up!

Coming back with no Porsche, Mayo in the oil filler cap, smelt extremely hot after I'd taken it for a drive, kept conking out too, and the clutch was heavy, totally unimpressed with that. Way too much car to take a chance on.

I believe all the clutches will be a bit on the heavy side on these.

As for the rest of the stuff, can't fault you for walking away this time.

Trouble is, now you have the bug, you won't be happy till you get one  Thumbs Up!

Looking at a 1998 'R' Porsche 911 Carrera 3.4 6 speed manual cabriolet to scratch that Porsche itch, anyway. Anyone in the know on these? Anything I should look out for etc.

Yes I know mid life crisis  Roll Eyes

service histroy a must hpi report also a must buy from specialist porsche garages  and use them to service it.
If driven hard it will eat rear tyres in 8,000 miles
check for badly repaired front ends and stone chip damage
if looked after the are bombproof though running costs are a bit higher than your omega

stigma attached to the boxster is that its a entry level car for the porsche brand think 924 and you will understand what that means.
