Current view on which wishbones?
04. May 2011 at 08:02

The Elite, with less than 60k on the clock, was wishbone bushes that are knackered. Both front and rear bushes on one of the wishbones - don't often see the vertical one fail Shocked

So whats the current view on replacement?

I've only ever had genuine on the MV6 - the last set MDTM pressed in a new set of GM bushes into my existing wishbones.

there is currently no known good 'cheapy' - used to be the old buypartsby ones.
Lemforders - Jury is still out as to whether they are worth the money.
Genuine - remortgage.

or the ebay cheapy route - and polybush before fitting.  Thumbs Up!

(I went Lemforder, and will polybush when required)

Was toying with Lemforders, then at some stage before the Lemforders are knackered, polybush the GMs I've taken out, and use when required.

Hmmm, interesting Cheesy

Given that I can guess the location, is it something I'd have to bring the wishbones up on their own, rather than the entire car? If so, is it something that could be done there and then, as I don't like the idea of the car on axle stands for days, as I suspect (esp in this weather), they'd sink pretty rapidly into my driveway Grin

Does anyone have a recommended supplier for these bushes?

MDTM, you suggest just do the horizontal (front), and use normal for the vertical (rear). Vauxhall?

that's odd - i must have changed over a hundred of the vertical ones in my time, but haven't seen a horizontal one fail yet.

genuine GM for the vertical one every time, and I guess I'd do the same for the horizontal one if I ever needed it.
