New discs, but rusty...
07. May 2011 at 10:47

Had a little bit of a sort out in the garage yesterday, found some brand new brake discs I never used. I remember taking the pads out, but never used the discs. They must be a good few years old, so parts of them have rusted a little, although for most part they are fine.

Are they still ok to use? I was going to buy some new pads and stick them on, is it worth cleaning the discs up with anything or let brake pads do the work?

This is the rust:

Do you break V6's as often as TheBoy? Then you need tunnie's towing services, recovery costs are just the humiliation of being towed by 2/3's of an engine

They are no worse than they get on a car that's been parked up for a week or two. Just give them a light scrub with some wet & dry before fitting if you're concerned. Thumbs Up!

And degrease them - they will still have oil on them to stop them corroding, even though they have started to.

Chucked it down earlier, clearing up now.

According to weather reports it should be sunny for the rest of the day.

Monsoon like earlier, really thick heavy stuff. But only lasted for about 20 mins or so. Sun is out now  Cool
