My 2.5 td estate has become VERY wavy, as opposed to a little bit wavy, in the last 2-3 days.
I think the rain may have exacerbated it, or the feeling of it. But to be honest, i've lost all confidence in it when i'm driving now.

I am aware that the front wishbones needed doing (rear bushes on em are kaput!)
But the wavvyness seems way more than just the front wishbones,
It feels like the arse is all over the shop....literally doing its own thing.

All my toe in's etc are good, but i know some of my camber is out. But that's been out for a little while already and not felt like it does now.

Only thing which may be to blame is the elite alloys, with they're 225 tyres, instead of the 205's i was running.

Anything i should really do or check other than the Front wishbones.....
rear donuts is it? Are they going to be a PITA to do?

May 2011 at 20:31 its now chipped, lot more torque going through the diff, this does make it twist a lot!! if your donuts are slightly suspect the extra torque will exacerbate it!!

May 2011 at 20:50 well thats just it...... I'm talking about driving at a sedate pace....off the throttle.... Just driving in a straight line it pretty much does its own thing....

May 2011 at 21:07 yeah, well i'll get the wishbones done asap, but should i change drop links as well, antiroll bar bushes? And the rear donuts can be expensive afaik? Also....besides warped discs, would the worn wishbones cause brake judder?

May 2011 at 21:07 Speaking from recent experience, if you think the rear w/b bushes are "code F", I think you'll find that the front ones are just as bad if not worse. Too much slop in those and the toe settings will wander about all on their own, I think. I'm no expert on geometry though.

May 2011 at 21:58 Try your old wheels back on and see if improves, could be the tyres on your new wheels causing some of your problems,wider tyres will tend to tramline more

Thats what I was thinking... 225 (Shouldn't they be 235?) tyres will have less give in the sidewalls so will cause the car to handle differently.

Thats what I was thinking... 225 (Shouldn't they be 235?) tyres will have less give in the sidewalls so will cause the car to handle differently.

Facelift elite is 235 but I think earlier cars run slightly narrower

Yeah they are prefacelift elite 16" allys, so tyre size is 225/55/16, that is standard fit.

It may be them, so yes, first port of call would be to change them back and see how they feel then.

And then i'll get wishbones done.
And whatever else i can replace....dont fancy doing donuts as i hear they are awkward and i've done enough to this car already.
Just seem to be throwing money at it lol Shocked

adding the chip, allys and leather was my choice tho....

Waterpump, new coolant, 2 oil changes, and new filters all round weren't though.

damn bushes and geometry.

I think thats what its going to come down to.
elite allys may have put geometry out of whack more or something. Considering its already naffed.

May 2011 at 23:10 I put new tyres on mine as the old ones were gone on the inside edge, absolutely terrifying steering with the new ones on until I got the wishbones/track rod ends done.

Funny you should say that, as the off side rear tyre is the wrong way round. I did notice, but i had picked the best of a bunch of wheels from Darth Loo knee, and ended up with 1 odd one.

You really think that will make such a profound difference?
