I've got a 2.6 v6 24v f/lift 52 plate petrol with an oil leak somewhere up top of the engine. My local garage say pos. rocker gaskets, but not for sure. They have quoted 8 hours labour, and it might not cure it, but I think that's a bit scary. I'm not the best D.I.Yer,.Is it a job I could take on myself, or are there any members in Central Scotland who would help. It's an LPG conversion, by the way
There's a very good chance that it's your rocker/cam cover gaskets that've failed. But 8 hours??????????

Has your mechanic lost the use of both arms & uses his teeth to do the job?

pm andyc for a full set of gaskets for around £80 - expensive but you only do the job once instead of twice if you use pattern parts. Your 2.6 makes the job a bit easier as there's less emissions gubbins in the way but when you do the gaskets, make sure you do the breathers at the same time. Have a look through the maintenance section for a how to do.

It'll take you half the time quoted by your garage.
