lower oil sump pan gasket on X30XE
12. May 2011 at 19:02

I have an oil leak from this gasket and TIS states removing the oil level indicator when changing the lower oil sump pan gasket!!
is it necessary?
In the pics seems to be a rod (from indicator) going down the sump!!!
Thanks in advance.

Mine was glued on with grey sealant and that's what I used to glue it back on with. The oil level switch is bolted to the sump with a couple of M6 bolts. Careful of the wiring, it's likely to be brittle.  Wink

no  Wink

The plug/socket is (towards the back at the top), but the actual sensor/switch is bolted to the lower steel pan.

I'm not able to edit the picture, but it fastens to the only two bolts shown ..... just by the drain plug.

Thanks Andy, is just as you say Thumbs Up!, both bolts on the pic are for the sensor. I'll get then a new o-ring for the switch.

is that for where the plug/socket passes through the upper part of the ally sump? (it's been awhile since I removed mine  Roll Eyes) I can't think now how it all fastens, but it's simple enough  Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up!

The socket is pushed through the upper sump from below and held in place by a large circlip. I didn't change the o-ring on mine when I cleaned out the sump a couple of weeks ago but it seems to be oil tight so far..............
