15. May 2011 at 21:06

hi all
got a problem with the lever that pops the bonnet, it is hanging off like someone has pulled too hard  Embarrassed
i havent taken it apart yet but some advice would be good  Smiley
would it have snapped needing new handle?
or would fixings have broken that handle attatches to?
advice would be good so can get bits beforehand
tia  Thumbs Up!

The same thing happened to me on my old 2.0l  Roll Eyes .
Luckily on mine the cable had popped out of its mechanism inside the lever and armed with a torch and a pair of pliers I soon had it back in working order Wink.
Also make sure that the cable has'nt come loose anywhere under the bonnet as this will make it bloody hard to open, the first place to check would probably be where the cable is clipped to the plastic trim just above the back of the plenum.
Hope yours is an easy fix like mine Thumbs Up!

no the cable hasnt come off it is still attatched to handle but the handle is hanging loose, you can still pull on the handle top and bottom to release bonnet, so either handle has snapped or where the handle fits onto has snapped, i will probally strip it down next weekend to have a look, i just wondered if this had happened to anyone else so i could have got bits before i started to strip it down ?

Yep, more than a couple of times...

There's a (fixed, round) bit of plastic on the bit that falls out which is a sort of hinge pin IIRC, which just 'clips' into the fitting that's attached to the car.  It's a horribly  cheap-looking set-up for such an elegant car.

The good news is that it will probably just pop back in, once you get a torch and your head down there so you can see what you're doing.
