Yaaaay the 728i is better, had the spark plug hole timeserted( better than a helicoil apparently, cheers for the tip Andy B) and it's running really well, smooth as silk......... apart from the slight manifold gasket blow and slight grumble from a front wheelbearing and it's in for it's VIC on Monday regardless! Cars hey !

I think this may be a keeper but dont tell the Miggy Grin

Signums in for it's MOT in the morning then it's getting shifted on, thing is, I quite like that too now. What to do!

Having worked on a couple of e39's now, they are well built cars, and designed to be worked on after the production line, something completely lost on the French.

However they do have similar issues to omegas. Bushes and suspension issues are magnified 20 fold as there's considerably more components involved to go wrong.

Leaking cam covers on the petrols causing misfires.

Diesels have the calamitous swirl flap issue (which the omega doesn't) and the fuel system runs at massive pressure meaning filters galore to change in awkward places after each stage. Injectors are enormous and expensive to re-con. However the weasels don't sound like weasels at all. Quiet, refined, with a nice turbo whistle as it spins up. Sounds like a proper machine rather than something off a farm.

Hedgehogs fail and door membranes leak. Display panels pixels fail. It's more car, arguably, but it's more to fix and a bigger bill.

They'll do similar miles to omega. But the running costs are considerably higher.

.... what turns the drivers into arrogant arses I'm not quite sure. Just watch one come on from a slip road. Oh BMW IN COMING, PREPAR TO BRAKE!  Angry.

Grin Kind of know what you mean about the arrogance, wont do me any favours seeing as this one is Alpina badged and kitted up. Suspension has been rebuilt recently with loads of bushes etc.

Feeling from the drivers seat is completely different to the omega, much more luxurious and better screwed together. The omega feels well quicker though with more power and less weight.

This thing stands me £530 so far and needs a few little bits to finish it off. The guy I got it off included 2 spare cats which will offset the costs a bit too Wink
