Do you have the usual dash ignition lights coming up & if so is engine turning over but not starting?

Or is everything dead as in no electrics & nothing at all works ?

Entwood had this issue, it turned out to be the immobiliser chip had come loose inside the key. he superglued it back in place. Bingo! HTH Thumbs Up!

How do you know it's the immobilizer stopping the car from starting?

Assuming you have a standard Vx. keyfob and alarm system then you can re-sync the fob to the car by turning on the ignition and pressing and holding the lock and unlock buttons together. This will only re-set the alarm and central locking, the immobilizer is a separate system to the alarm.

The e.m.l. won't go out if the cars not running.
Is it flashing?

S'not the immobilizer stopping it from starting then.

You say you wanted to take the car for an M.O.T. Has it been stood for a long time?
