Tyre opinions .... again
18. Aug 2011 at 13:46

Car is booked into WIM next week for full geo as I'm fitting new wishbones this weekend .. if it stops raining !! Front tyres need replacing.

I have Falken FK452's, as recommended by WIM, and the only problem I get is a tendency to tramline. (I don't drive it as hard as some do obviously!!)

From comments in other threads I was going to go for Kuhmo KU31's, but WIM tell me they are no longer available and are offering KU39's, but t'internet research lists these as a "summer" tyre.

Anyone driving an Omega on KU39's wish to give an opinion ?? especially regarding winter driving ??

KU39's are £112 a corner, FK452's £108, so no real difference in price, anyone got any other suggestions at that sort of price point ???

I know there are as many tyre opinions are there are Omega's ... but all views appreciated .. Smiley

yep.. they are summer tires..but also useable in winter unless its ice or snow.. although I will always recommend winter tires when its below 7 celcius..

contis , potenza and ps3 (micheline) will be my preference still if budget permits.. Thumbs Up!

Been doing some internet searching, and some phoning around .. KU31's seem to be extremely rare .. everyone is offering me the KU39's ...

So, does anyone know what the differences are and how do they (KU39) behave on the Omega ??

The reviews I read say the KU31 is better than the KU39...  ...I have a vested interest in this thread Roll Eyes

Entwood, what size are yours, wonder if they have stopped doing some sizes, as Pirelli have for P6000.

Personally, I run Dunlop Sport Maxx on my MV6, delighted with them, but our needs likely vary, esp as I don't think I'll get 10k from them  Cry

Present Falken FK452's are 235/45ZR17 94Y

The specification I've been searching on is 235/45/17 W as a minimum

EDIT

The Kuhmo web site actualy lists the KU31 as the prefered tyre for the car.. and gives one dealer in the area, probably give them a ring in the morning and see what they say.

as a note:

"KU39 are Kumho's "high end" tyre, KU31 is for "drifters" and KU36 for occasional trackdays. According to the Kumho website."

someone said in discussions..
