I have set of BF Goodrich Gforce on the front of mine and they have been there for close on 12 months and covered over 25k.When I tried getting a set for the back was told they were now very rare in 235/45/17.

When I checked the wear they still had over 5mm across the entire surface,although in fairness they are on the front.They have a very good tread pattern and my money would be on them for a winter/summer option if I could find a supplier local again.

The prices from WIM for the 39 or the 452 is almost the same, so its not mainly price that concerns me but how they behave.

Falkens get excellent reports/write ups from many sources .. yet the consensus on the forum is that they don't work well on Omegas.... I'd like to avoid a similar problem IF the same happens with the 39's.

Methinks that the vast majority of reports are from fairly light, front wheel drive motors... it would seem that the same tyres on a heavy rear wheel drive motor display different characteristics.

31's have been used by quite a few folks who have given their "approval" ... so I'm hoping to source them .. as there seems to be no experience of 39's .. Sad

Yep. Reviews come from so many different drivers with different vehicles that they are almost useless, IMHO.

I am happy with the current KU31s. Not the best tyre in the world, but good all round at a decent price and certainly no vices when mounted on an Omega. In fact, mine are now wearing well and they aren't really exhibiting the tramlining that I've found usually afflicts well worn tyres which were fine when new.

It does mean that it's pointless asking them for advice, though, 'cos the answer will always be that the tyre they want you to buy is the best, actually made by the same people who make tyres for the space shuttle but rebranded, also used by Steriling Moss,etc... Roll Eyes

Speaking from personal experience i had them on my m3 track car and my old 540, both considerably more powerful cars than any omega and i always really rated them, granted they wern't michelin pilot sports, but they came in at around £300 a set in comparison to at least £800 for mich's, and whichever way you look at it there is no way mich's were 2x/nearly 3x better performance or wear wise for the significant extra outlay

I've been running my 2.5 V6 on Accelera tyres for a few years now. This is a premium budget tyre; very grippy and I'm getting circa 20K out of them. For around £40 a tyre, fitted inc VAT, I think these are excellent value.

if we will talk about tires , imo best way to examine them is using measurable units like lateral g on corners, brake distance , lap time and so on.. for both wet and dry surface..

I generaly see users are biased somehow on some tires like they are after a football team Grin

so I'll mostly give importance to test results (although they dont try on every car and some testers are also biased) because even on a different car all tires are measured on same conditions..

so a tire having less lateral grip and more brake distance wont create miracles on your car Cheesy

I too have been using Accelera Alpha's for a while, but they are a compromise for me. TBH, they are good enough to cope with Elite suspension but I'm not sure they'd be good enough when I change the suspension.

Michelin Pilot Sport 2 are bloody awful tyres. Fortunately, I've shredded them now, so thats the end of them. Downside is I need to find new tyres, thus my interest in this thread...
