Cambelt kit
21. Aug 2011 at 22:28

Going to fit a new cambelt tomorrow.

Just need clarification on one point, on the DVD Mark refers to the later kit as being marked 01 and the earlier kit as EB.

Mine is marked 6B  Huh

Has anyone else come across this and if so what kit have I got?

I have found this also, it must be the later 2.6 /3.2 kits,
also the bottom right roller is not adjustable as per video. I don't know what differance it will make to setting up timing the cams, advice needed I think PLEASE?...

Varies on engine number which rollers will fit. Earlier 2,6/3,2 have two adjustable rollers as per the DVD, later ones have only one as in pictures  Thumbs Up!

Did the job on my '01 2.6 a month or three ago, using a Contitech kit supplied buy BuyPartsBy.  It was also 6B replacing an existing 6B - and I have been to Specsavers!.  It has been fine so far.

It had a single adjustable pulley as well - as did the old one i took off.  I scratched my head when I saw that the timing on the non-adjustable 2-4-6 side was advanced by a gnat's tadger - still within the width of the groove but not plumb centre.

Thinking about it, the belt is bound to bed in a little, hence setting the tensioner a little higher for a new belt.  So it will no doubt be spot on now I have driven a few miles.  Following that reasoning through, I set the 1-3-5 side within the mark but also advanced by a similar gnat's.

I haven't bothered to strip down and check if the strategy worked but all seems well.
