Front suspension strut tops

I'll be having my front struts replaced shortly.

The metal parts visible on the top when the bonnet is open are rusty. These aren't part of the new struts themselves and appear to be unfinished steel.

The rust is surface only - but it would look better if the rust wasn't there. Any ideas? What are these parts called please? I might take a picture if I'm feeling brave later - but I suspect the experts know what I mean.

Thanks

Just undo the nut and polish em up. 24mill cranked ring spanner ideally, iirc...? And a small (?) mill spanner to hold the shaft still.
All they do is stop the struts falling out if the wheels are off the ground. car on the floor they do nout at all.  Thumbs Up!
