blower fan A/C has lost speed
03. Sep 2011 at 18:39

Hi Omega fans,

I wonder if anyone has a solution for the following problem. I live in Kuwait and with summer temperatures surpassing 130 degrees F one needs airconditioning. Mine worked fine, until this morning. Normally when I start the car, the A/C comes on automatically and you can hear and feel the air blower, whose speed can be made to increase or decrease by touching the nr 1 and 2 buttons to the left on the dashboard. Until this morning, when I touched the nr 3 button (the one for blocking the access of air from the exterior, an extra, very strong, blower would cut in and the air flow caused by this (extra?) fan, would make life inside the car bearable. Now, all of a sudden, there is is a much more modest air stream and life inside the car has become very difficult (hot). Does anyone have an idea what could have caused the extra blower (which could also be made to come on/off by varying the temperature settings of the A/C) to no longer function? Thanks for your helpful suggestions!

the motor maybe warn out or there is a blockage some were, try the polen filter in engine compartment, if that blocked can stop a good flow off air.

Try the auto reset. Press and hold auto and off until the motors start buzzing. On facelifts it may need ignition in position 2 to work.

There is also a reset described on Tis(?) regarding the re circa flap position being out of sinc. Can't remember the procedure though, or if it's relevant to your case.  Undecided

thank you all of you who responded. Mind you, it is not a reduced air flow, it's just that the booster fan (that seems to be there) stopped cutting in. However, yesterday, after five days of not working, it spontaneously cut in again and now the A/C is working fine again, WITHOUT ANY REMEDIAL ACTION ON MY PART! For how long, though? We are heading towards the winter season, and that means less heat, but I hate to think of next year's summer..... Cry

Often its the speed controller on climate controlled cars, Omega is no different.  I would NOT suspect fan unit at this stage, as suggested earlier, as (bearing squels aside) then fans are quite reliable.

The speed controller is fiddly to change, and expensive new.

It sits in airducting near fan, once removed looks like a little hedgehog

Pressing the recirc button once to turn it on then again to switch it off resynced mine when it played up last year.
