Thanks for all your welcome messages.
A mechanic friend is sorting out the "knocking" at the moment. He says it needs a drop link on the o/s and a track rod on the n/s. Hope to get the car back later today and go for a "quiet" cruise!
I changed the 8mm breather pipe yesterday as it had gone all manky, I couldn't blow through it, the larger pipe was clear, I haven't had time to see if it has cured the high revs problem yet.
