You will really need one from another auto as the diff raito is differant between auto and manual cars the wrong one will send your spedo out .

Won't send the speedo out as the speedo feed is from the ABS sensors that read the ABS toothed rings externally to the diff.

As you say, will be a different ratio though.

I have a diff from a 2.5 Auto you can have with pleasure. 50k miles (ish) and quiet.
What year is your car? I will check to see the ratios are the same.
Where in the Midlands are you?

the same thing happened to my dif,, the haynes maual gives the ratios for different engines,
you may be better buying the dif complete with the drive shafts as mine were stuck inside the dif,

For a 3.0 with AR35 autobox you want a 3.9:1 diff.
The one I have is off a 2.5 and is 4.22:1. It would increase your fuel consumption slightly on a run but might not make much difference around town. Accelleration would be good though.  Wink

Driveshafts are retained by snap rings into the diff, you use a pair of large screwdrivers or prybars between diff case and shaft, take up the slack then jerk the prybar and the shaft pops out.

the drive shafts are very easy to take out but as i said mine was stuck solid, i was going to strip down the dif to see what had jammed it ,its stands to reason that its the same reason the dif was whinning.
i bought a 2nd hand dif but the bloke had grind the shafts in half and left the CVs in, i thought i would be able to just put then on the end of my origanal shafts but you have to to basiclly destory the CVs to get them opened up.
checking the haynes book these are the ratios
upto 1998
all 2.0L--------3.90:1
2.5L  manual--3.70:1
          auto----3.90:1
3.0L manual---3.70:1
          auto----3.70:1
from 1998
all 2.0L--------3.90:1
2.5L manual---3.90:1
            auto---4.22:1
3.0L manual---3.70:1
             auto--3.90:1
hope this helps
